Design a Test That Could Prove You Wrong

Write a reusable prompt with replaceable inputs. Submit your prompt and one test output for this example.

Task: Use AI to turn an attractive product claim into a testable hypothesis.

Example input: A fictional team believes that replacing a long onboarding checklist with three short steps helps new users complete setup. The current setup flow asks users to create a sample project, invite a collaborator, and find the export menu. The team can recruit 12 adult volunteers for a sandbox session. No historical completion rate, effect size, or representative customer sample is available. The sandbox contains only invented accounts and data.

Constraints:

  • Define success, failure, and the observation window before seeing results.
  • Address task equivalence, order effects, and moderator influence.
  • Do not claim a small convenience sample proves population-wide improvement.

Required output from your prompt: Write a one-page test plan containing a hypothesis, comparison method, participant instructions, measurement sheet, and decision rule for the next iteration.

Success checks:

  • The primary outcome is observable.
  • Participants get comparable tasks and neutral instructions.
  • The plan records drop-offs and errors as well as completion.
  • The decision rule and limitations are defined before the experiment runs.
